Hardware

At the party, you will have access to one (1) RJ-45 10/100 port and two standard North American power outlets. You will be sharing a six foot long table with up to 3 other people. There are restrooms (yahoo!) and access to a phone for special situations. 2 sodas and snacks will be provided (you may also bring your own) it is up to the other players at your table whether food or drink is allowed at the gaming table.

Due to the basic fact that we are short on storage, the LAN party will be B.Y.O.C. As in `Bring Your Own Computer'. This means that, as a participant, you will need to make sure you meet some hardware requirements. Since you will be bringing your computer into a large room with A LOT of other equipment and people, label your equipment that you want back. Get some masking tape, and a black marker, and write your name on EVERYTHING, even your underwear. This will help avoid confusion when we break down and you are trying to collect your stuff.

Required: (configured and ready to go when you arrive)
  • Computer (of course)
  • Software you may need to reload/install/use
  • Ethernet card (RJ-45 style, like a phone jack)
  • Ethernet cable (about 10 feet at least)(If you forget one, we can provide one.)
  • Monitor (unless you are blind)
  • Keyboard and Mouse (or rodent equivalent)
  • Headphones (without these, you will play with no sound.  headphones are available for purchase as cheap as $5)
  • A fun loving attitude!
